Katie Hart’s Journey to Whole-Person Healing
Aug 12, 2025
Professional Background
I'm a Medical Doctor with a unique background that began in pharmacy. I earned my PharmD in 2019, followed by my MD in 2023. This dual training provides me with a well-rounded perspective on patient care, allowing me to approach decisions with both a strong pharmacological foundation and a comprehensive medical understanding.
Philosophy of Care
My philosophy is centered around truly personalized care — combining evidence-based medical knowledge with functional medicine principles to get to the heart of what's causing symptoms, not just treating them. I believe in a holistic, systems-based approach to health that looks at the whole person—body, mind, and lifestyle — without rigid protocols or one-size-fits-all solutions.
Personal Life
Outside of medicine, I'm a mother, wife, homesteader, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner. These roles shape who I am and keep me grounded in real life — where health isn't just a theory, but something I live every day.

My Story
I grew up with a single mother who worked hard to provide, often living paycheck to paycheck. She always tried to feed me well, but despite her best efforts, I struggled with chronic inflammatory conditions from an early age — severe allergies, eczema, asthma, chronic coughs, and frequent bouts of pneumonia.
As a teenager, I was on multiple medications, yet I wasn't getting better. After a long series of specialist visits, tests, and unanswered questions, I was sent home with the same medications—and a few more. I remember breaking down in tears, exhausted and frustrated. I just wanted to feel well.
That was a turning point. I vividly remember walking into a health food store with my mom, buying supplements, and exploring alternative ways to support my health. To my surprise, I began to improve. That moment sparked a lifelong passion for understanding how the body can heal itself when supported properly — not just with diet and exercise, but with intentional lifestyle choices, meaningful relationships, spiritual grounding, and emotional resilience.
Long before my formal education, I was drawn to root-cause medicine. Over the years, I've realized that true healing doesn't live in rigid boxes. It isn't about choosing between pharmaceuticals and holistic care—it's about listening to each person's story and using the right tools for the situation.
Professional Experience
During residency, I began working closely with women on hormone health. I quickly saw how many women were being overlooked or dismissed—how conventional medicine was often missing the mark for them. That realization deepened my commitment to practicing medicine differently: with curiosity, compassion, and a personalized, whole-body approach.
